FLW College Fishing: Reel Life Festival Battle of the Bands

Requirements

·         To be eligible for competition, all band members must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

·         To be eligible for competition, the band may consist of no more than 5 members’ total.

·         To be eligible for competition, each band must register on line at collegefishing.com and submit the following materials by the deadline date posted for the school in which you are registering to compete at.

·         Submitted Materials must include:

1.      band name

2.      individual members’ name, birth date, email address, mailing address, phone number and student status

3.      band photo and up to 3 original songs, along with the lyric sheets for those songs. Original is defined as all music and lyrics being composed of by at least one member of the band.

All band submissions meeting the requirements above will be considered for competition. Five (5) bands will qualify for each competition. The five bands will be selected by a panel of judges. The panel of judges will consist of both working musicians and consumers. The judges will be selected by FLW Outdoors. The judging criteria to qualify for the competition will be based on Originality, Creativity and overall Likeability of the songs submitted. The selected bands will be notified via email two (2) weeks prior to the competition by the program coordinator. All selected bands must sign copyright waivers in order to compete. All waivers must be signed by all band members and returned to the program coordinator prior to the start of the competition. No exceptions. If the band does not return the signed waiver it will be disqualified and an alternative band may be selected. Each band selected to compete must be available to participate in the closing ceremonies of the National Guard FLW College Fishing Tournament on the Monday afternoon following the competition – all dates are available at collegefishing.com. If  the band is not available it will be disqualified and an alternative band may be selected.

 

Rules

·         Each band selected to compete must return all copyright waivers prior to the competition. FLW Outdoors will air the Battle live on FLW Live on Collegefishing.com.

·         Each band selected to compete is allowed to only play their original songs previously submitted online, in which lyric sheets were also provided.

·         Each band selected to compete must supply a set list, stage plot and drum kit information prior to the start of the competition.

·         Each band selected to compete will be given a performance time. If the band is not ready to setup at that time, they will be automatically eliminated from the competition.

·         Each band selected to compete must adhere to a forty five (45) minute set time. A set is defined as: setup, play, tear down. If a band goes over the set time it will be immediately disqualified.

·         No profanity or profane gesturing will be allowed. Any band or band member who demonstrates this behavior will immediately be eliminated from the competition. Such behavior and determination is at the sole discretion of FLW Outdoors.

·         The winning band must be available to participate in the closing ceremonies of the National Guard FLW College Fishing Regional/National Tournament on the Monday afternoon following the competition.  If the band is not available, or does not wish to participate, they will forfeit both the winning title and the prize of recording studio time.  In the event this happens, bands will move up in position will be offered the same.

All bands selected to compete will be judged on the following criteria by a panel of judges selected through the music department at each school where the competition is held, and may or may not include audience participation. Judging Criteria is as follows: Planning/Preparedness = 20%, Originality = 30%, Interface with Audience = 10%, Quality of Performance = 20% and Presentation = 20%.  The winning band will receive studio time (10 hours in a local recording studio), along with the distinction of playing a 30 minute set at the closing ceremonies of the National Guard FLW College Fishing Tournament which may be nationally televised on Versus Country.
